An economic and trade fair for Shanxi and Hunan provinces took place in Taiyuan, capital of Shanxi, on July 30.
Launched by Hunan Chamber of Commerce in Shanxi, the fair aimed to further the economic partnerships between the two provinces. Departments of commerce in Shanxi and Hunan, Shanxi Demonstration Area for Economic Transformation and Reform, and the governments of Yueyang, Changde and Chenzhou in Hunan province introduced their investment projects at the fair.
Companies and governments in the two regions expressed their intentions to cooperate in fields such as energy, the internet and tourism. The fair saw the signing of three agreements worth 30 billion yuan ($4.46 billion), namely a coal-supply project, tourism development of ancient villages and an intelligent cloud platform for security services.
Founded in 2011, Hunan Chamber of Commerce in Shanxi, which now has 218 members, has been working to attract investment to Shanxi and Hunan. The chamber has attracted a series of businesses, such as Hunan Construction Engineering Group and Sany Heavy Industry Co, to invest in Shanxi.
Also, businesspeople from Hunan have established some 1,200 companies above the designated size in Shanxi and have assets of 26 billion yuan in the province.
